The trail is in the planning stages west of Rockmart, through Cedartown to the state line. The Rail Line west of Rockmart to Cedartown is active. One plan is to run the Silver Comet Trail next to highway 278 to Cedartown. Then the trail will travel along the original rail bed from Cedartown to the state line. Construction is underway west of Cedartown to the Alabama state line. Bidding and construction will start on the 4 mile section west of downtown Rockmart to Highway 278 at Nathan Dean Sports Complex. Paving on the section of trail from Cedartown west to the Alabama state line has begun. |
