- Find Highway 278
on a map. This highway is west of Atlanta, and runs east to west to
Alabama. Highway 278-mile markers start over in every county.
- Find Polk County
near Rockmart on Highway 278.
- Go to mile marker
27 - 28. Find Coot's Lake Road at Coot's Lake Beach. Coot's Lake Beach
is located at the intersection of Highway 278 and Coot's Lake Road.
- Turn away from
Coot's Lake Beach and head to Downtown Rockmart.
- Pass the Dairy
Queen.
- Turn left at the
next red light (at the House of China) to historical Downtown Rockmart.
This road may be Elm Street.
- Pass the Ace Hardware
and take a left at the next light on Marble Street. Downtown Rockmart
is a few blocks down on Marble Street. The Ace Hardware is an older
brick building with a mural painted on its side.
- There is ample
parking in Downtown Rockmart and the Silver Comet runs directly behind
the town square.
The Silver Comet Depot
is open for business. They have public restrooms, sell drinks, rent bikes,
have maps, and are a full-sevice bike shop. For more information, please
